It took Lester only few notes to realise he would dedicate his life to music. After his studies with Stefan Van Landeghem he worked intensively under the guidance of the Hungarian pianist Levente Kende at the royal conservatoire of Antwerp, where he also worked with Nikolaas Kende and Heidi Hendrickx. With an Erasmus scholarship he went to study at the Liszt academy in Budapest.
After graduating Lester worked for many years with the world-renowned Georgian pianist Eliso Virsaladze in the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
Lester won several prizes at piano competitions such as the Cantabile, Steinway, Dexia, EPTA-competition.
Besides his work as a solo pianist Lester also plays chamber music, with a special affinity for song, for which he is indebted to Jozef de Beenhouwer and Lucienne Van Dyck.
Although his repertoire spans across many centuries, from Bach to own compositions, the bulk of his repertoire lies in the heart of the 19th century.
